7/19/2024 - Release of Lambda CNC Router: Latest update for project Lambda

I'M Robotics Lab is proud to announce the release of the Lambda CNC Router, an open-source machine designed for accessibility, versatility, and precision. With its robust design and innovative features, the Lambda CNC Router is set to empower makers, hobbyists, and educators alike, offering an affordable and customizable solution for CNC machining.

Key Features of Lambda CNC Router

  • Workable Area: A spacious 600x400 mm cutting area, perfect for a variety of projects.

  • Durable Double Linear Rails: Ensuring smooth and accurate motion.

  • Ball Screws for Precision: A hallmark of high-quality CNC machines.

  • Wide Material Compatibility: Capable of machining wood, aluminum, brass, plexiglass, and plastic.

  • Customizable Frame: Adaptable to meet diverse user needs.

  • Powerful Motion Controller: Uses the BlackBox X32, paired with OpenBuild control software for ease of use.

  • Cutting Speed: Up to 3000 mm/min for efficient performance.

  • Nema 23 Motors: High-torque motors for reliable operation.

One of the Lambda CNC Router's standout innovations is its x-axis ballscrew, strategically placed behind the x-axis aluminum structure. This design keeps the ballscrew shielded from dust and chips, enhancing durability and long-term performance. Moreover, the Lambda CNC Router's structure incorporates 3D-printed ABS components, striking a balance between durability and affordability. Its straightforward assembly process also ensures users gain valuable knowledge in CNC building and repair.

Affordability and Flexibility

Priced at approximately $1,300, the Lambda CNC Router offers exceptional value for its features. Additionally, users can opt to replace the BlackBox motion controller with more affordable alternatives, further reducing costs while maintaining performance.
